2022 Apple Castle ride (10 miles): This rustic ride is a favorite for casual and experienced cyclists alike because the scenery is beautiful, and you get to visit the Apple Castle! Cyclists will wind through a combination of mostly paved roads (with about a mile of a hard-packed dirt road) past many quaint Amish farms (some of whom sell donuts as large as hub-caps, so help yourself and we’ll give you credit). Your rest stop will be at the Wilmington Fresh Market. This could be the end or just the beginning of a day of cycling adventures.
Country Roads (29 miles): This Tour De Donut favorite has seemingly endless country road options. This is the 5th year that we have used versions of this ride, and we have yet to map-out a duplicate. There are no steep hills, and just a few long gradual ones that you engage on the way out which you get to glide down on the way back. As in previous years you will cross a 19th century covered bridge and have a rest stop at an old-fashioned country store.
2022 River Valley Rolling Hills Ride (21 mi.): Alright all you Goldilocks riders. This ride is not too long and not too short. After climbing a few challenging hills you’ll be rewarded by scenic country vistas. If you enjoy wildlife, keep your eyes peeled for some peeks at local bovine herds and stallions. This ride is good for experienced cyclists or novices who are up for a personal challenge.
2022 The New Wilmington Hill Challenge (41 miles) “ Hey soldier, can you take that hill!” : “Normal” cyclists avoid hills, unless they’re going down them, but some hard-core enthusiasts welcome the challenge of quad-aching, breath-taking, endless hills. This is a tough ride designed only for seasoned cyclists. This route contains a hand picked selection of the steepest hills around. Although the route is about the hills, it also affords plenty of country scenery and a rest stop. So, if you believe you have what it takes, give it a try, but you will get no sympathy from us if you are caught walking your elite bicycle up that hill.
